MIL740B Testing of Avionics Cabinet Vibration

The model BK4321 piezo-electric accelerometer was used for all testing, along with the B&K type 3060-A-050 6 channel Lan-XI front end data acquisition unit and the B&K type 2692 Nexus 3 channel charge signal conditioning amplifier (all pictured below). This tri-axial accelerometer is in conformance in all regards to the requirements of MIL-SPEC 740, MIL-STD-1472F, and DLS document number R201B143Y010, revision B.

The frequency and amplitude ranges of this tri-axial acceleration sensor made it the ideal choice for the testing we needed to do: 40 to 100 dB ref 1µG, with a frequency range of 10 Hz to 10 kHz. The mounting instructions in MIL-SPEC 740 require a mounting block with a threaded attachment be used. I followed these requirements by using four mounting blocks as shown below (generic test item depicted):
